Position Summary


The Baker is responsible for preparing, baking, and finishing a variety of fresh bakery products including breads, pastries, cakes, and specialty items. This role ensures high-quality, visually appealing products while maintaining food safety standards and supporting overall bakery operations.


Key Responsibilities


  •  Prepare and bake a variety of products including breads, rolls, muffins, cookies, pastries, and cakes 
  •  Follow and execute recipes with consistency and attention to detail 
  •  Mix, shape, proof, and bake doughs according to production schedules 
  •  Decorate and finish baked goods as needed (icing, glazing, etc.) 
  •  Monitor product quality, freshness, and presentation standards 
  •  Maintain proper inventory levels of ingredients and communicate ordering needs 
  •  Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation guidelines 
  •  Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe at all times 
  •  Assist with merchandising and stocking bakery displays 
  •  Provide friendly and helpful customer service when needed 
Qualifications


  •  Previous baking experience preferred (scratch baking a plus) 
  •  Knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment 
  •  Ability to follow recipes and production schedules accurately 
  •  Strong attention to detail and time management skills 
  •  Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed 
  •  Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs 
Preferred Skills


  •  Experience with artisan breads or specialty baked goods 
  •  Cake decorating experience 
  •  Familiarity with commercial bakery equipment (mixers, ovens, proofers) 
  •  Food safety certification (or willingness to obtain) 
Work Environment


  •  Fast-paced grocery retail setting 
  •  Early morning shifts typical (production starts before store opening) 
  •  Exposure to heat, flour, and commercial kitchen equipment
