Compensation: $20.00/hour + $1.00/hour Shift Premium

Shift: 2nd Shift

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM (Non-Rotating)

Purpose of the Role

The Bale Breaker Operator is integral to our operations, ensuring the seamless flow of raw materials into the plant. This role is crucial for maintaining continuous production and upholding our commitment to quality and efficiency.

Reporting Structure

Reports To: Shift Supervisor

Collaborates With: Bale Loader Operator, Fiber Prep Operator

Key Responsibilities

  • Equipment Operation: Skillfully operate and monitor bale breaking equipment, including Bale Conveyors, Bale Breakers, Hammermill, and Raw Silo Fan.

  • Material Handling: Efficiently remove twine from bales as they enter the facility.

  • Coordination: Ensure the Bale Loader Operator supplies sufficient raw material fiber to prevent production delays.

  • Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and safe work area by performing daily housekeeping tasks.

  • Inspection and Maintenance: Conduct daily inspections of wear parts and cutting components in the bale breaker, hammermill, and raw silo. Replace parts as necessary to ensure optimal operation.

  • Safety and Reporting: Proactively communicate any safety concerns to the Shift Supervisor and adhere to all safety protocols.

  • Data Recording: Accurately record machine and production data, including daily straw usage, to support operational efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

Education: HS Diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Preferred background in agricultural or industrial settings.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs without assistance.

  • Capability to stand for entire shifts (8 or 12 hours).

  • Comfort working at heights up to 50 ft with appropriate safety PPE.

  • Adaptability to work in uncontrolled temperature environments.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong safety awareness for self and colleagues.

  • Proficiency in operating PLC screens.

  • Solid mechanical skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.

  • Basic math skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
