Job Summary
The Baler and Shredder Operator on 2nd shift is responsible for operating industrial shredding and baling equipment to process recyclable materials such as cardboard, plastics, and paper. This role ensures efficient waste reduction while maintaining safety, equipment functionality, and a clean work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate shredders, balers, and related machinery safely and efficiently
- Feed materials into shredding equipment and monitor processing flow
- Compress shredded materials into bales and secure them using wire or twine
- Weigh, label, and document processed bales accurately
- Use forklifts to transport materials and load/unload trucks
- Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting equipment
- Identify and report mechanical issues or safety hazards
- Follow OSHA regulations and company safety policies at all times
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace, including equipment and surrounding areas
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous warehouse, recycling, or machine operation experience is a plus
- Forklift certification required or willingness to obtain
- Basic mechanical skills and troubleshooting ability
- Strong understanding of workplace safety practices
