    TITLE: Band Percussion Assistant

    REPORTS TO: Band Director

    JOB GOAL: To assist the Band Director with teaching and managing the percussion section of the high school band.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assists the Director with planning and writing the show.

    • Serves as a drill instructor and offers advice in the selection of music.

    • Makes sure that arrangements or re-written portions of the music are written for percussion and copied when needed.

    • Rehearses the full percussion section and works with individuals to assist in improving playing techniques and offers musical advice to percussion.

    • Teaches the percussion section warm-ups, cadences, and music.

    • Assists on the playing field to improve performance.

    • Assists during summer band camp.

    • Keeps an accurate attendance record for rehearsals and performances.

    • Maintains discipline and authority over students according to the Lake Forest Student Code of Conduct.

    • Performs other duties as assigned by the building principal that relate to this position.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Terms are in accordance with provisions of the Negotiate Agreement on EPER employment.

    EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Negotiated Agreement on EPER evaluations.
