SUMTER COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM

TITLE: Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Education or related
  • Valid teaching certification from the state's Department of
  • Strong knowledge of child development and educational best
  • Prior teaching experience preferred, especially with elementary or high school students.

JOB GOAL: To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the designated
  • Develops and maintains a classroom environment conductive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the
  • Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of principal or
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups
  • Strives to implement by instruction and action the Sumter County School System's philosophy of education and instructional goals and
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect
  • Evaluates student progress on a regular
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, system policy, and administrative
  • Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.

EVALUATION: The performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
