Position Summary
The Banking Specialist II serves as a frontline representative of First Bank and plays a critical role in delivering exceptional customer service while accurately processing financial transactions. This position combines traditional teller responsibilities with relationship-building and referral activities designed to deepen client relationships and support financial success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Service and Relationship Building
- Deliver exceptional customer service and create positive experiences during every client interaction.
- Build strong customer relationships through meaningful conversations and personalized service.
- Identify customer needs and provide education regarding banking products, services, and financial solutions.
- Promote customer loyalty and increase relationship depth through proactive referrals and service excellence.
- Resolve customer inquiries and service concerns professionally and efficiently.
Teller Operations and Cash Handling
Accurately process daily banking transactions including:
Deposits
Withdrawals
Check cashing
Loan payments
Transfers
Money orders
Cash advances
Account servicing transactions
Balance and maintain an assigned cash drawer according to bank procedures.
Adhere to all cash handling, balancing, and settlement requirements.
Verify transaction accuracy and maintain detailed records.
Identify and report suspicious or potentially fraudulent activity.
Sales and Referrals
- Identify opportunities to cross-sell bank products and services based on customer needs.
- Generate referrals for personal banking, lending, mortgage, investments, treasury management, and other financial services.
- Support branch sales and relationship-building goals.
- Educate customers regarding available banking solutions and digital banking tools.
Digital Banking Support
Assist customers with:
Online Banking
Mobile Banking
Mobile Deposit
Debit Card Services
Electronic Banking Solutions
Increase customer adoption of self-service technologies and digital banking resources.
Demonstrate digital solutions that improve convenience and customer experience.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Follow all bank policies, procedures, regulations, and security standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of customer information.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and compliance with operational controls.
- Support fraud prevention efforts and protect bank assets.
- Complete all required operational and compliance activities accurately and timely.
Teamwork
- Collaborate effectively with branch team members and business partners.
- Support branch operations and customer service initiatives.
- Participate in branch meetings, training, and development activities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
Experience
- One year of customer service, cash handling, sales, retail, hospitality, or banking experience preferred.
- Previous bank teller, universal banker, personal banker, or retail banking experience strongly preferred.

The range for this role takes into account many factors that First Bank considers when making hiring decisions, including but not limited to prior experience, skill set, training, and other internal business and organizational factors. First Bank generally does not hire at or near the top of the stated range. The range is driven by the geographic location of the anticipated hiring location; however, the specific range may vary depending on the geographic location for remote positions. Compensation decisions depend on the specific facts and circumstances of each hiring instance.
