    Bankruptcy Litigation Specialist


    Job Summary


    Responsible for minimizing financial losses resulting from bankruptcy filings and litigation. Communicates with members, trustees, attorneys, and internal departments to support account recovery, ensure regulatory compliance, and develop repayment solutions.

    Responsibilities
    • Research and respond to inquiries regarding delinquent loans, account issues, and bankruptcy matters.
    • Monitor compliance with credit union policies and applicable debt collection regulations.
    • File proofs of claim, maintain bankruptcy plan trackers, and monitor stipulated judgments to ensure payments are received as agreed.
    • Update account records with payment activity and recommend motions for relief from stay when appropriate.
    • Review motions to value and ensure liens are reconveyed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
    • Review bankruptcy plans and recommend objections when necessary to protect recoverable balances.
    • Document account summaries and actions taken to determine the need for escalated recovery efforts.
    • Prepare accounts for legal action based on account conditions and established recovery strategies.
    • Apply knowledge of member care, account recovery, charge-offs, repossessions, reinstatements, expulsions, redemption requests, and proof-of-claim processes.
    • Contact members, trustees, and attorneys to negotiate repayment plans that meet the needs of all parties.
    • Monitor and track attorney-referred accounts for civil action.
    • Maintain knowledge of applicable state and federal laws and regulations, including SCRA, FDCPA, TCPA, FCRA, BSA, bankruptcy statutes, wage garnishments, small claims, legal stipulation agreements, and anti-money laundering requirements.
    • Assist management with monthly reports and period-end statistics.

    Requirements
    • Bachelor s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
    • At least five years of experience in bankruptcy, legal settlements, loss mitigation, underwriting, credit, or a related field within the financial services industry.

    Skill
    • Strong written, verbal, negotiation, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Knowledge of bankruptcy, litigation, loss mitigation, and account recovery processes.
    • Strong attention to detail, organization, follow-through, and time management.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with members, vendors, attorneys, trustees, and internal stakeholders.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

    Summary Qualification
    • 5 years experienced financial services professional with expertise in bankruptcy administration, litigation support, regulatory compliance, and loss recovery.
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze accounts, manage legal documentation, negotiate repayment arrangements, and recommend appropriate recovery actions.
    • Capable of handling confidential and complex account matters with accuracy, professionalism, and sound judgment.
