Banquet Captain

Midas Hospitality is seeking a service-driven and organized Banquet Captain to join our Food & Beverage team. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing banquet events from set-up through completion, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, maintaining quality service standards, and supporting the success of banquet associates during meetings, weddings, social events, and other hotel functions.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on hospitality professional who enjoys leading a team, communicating with event planners, and ensuring every event is executed with attention to detail.
What You Will Be Doing:
As a Banquet Captain, you will oversee the daily execution of banquet functions while serving as the primary point of contact between the banquet team, culinary team, and event organizers.
Responsibilities include:
Lead banquet associates during event setup, service, and breakdown to ensure successful event execution. Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and communicate event details, special requests, timelines, and service expectations to the banquet team. Conduct pre-function meetings to review assignments, service standards, appearance expectations, and event details. Inspect banquet rooms, tables, linens, china, glassware, silverware, and equipment to ensure readiness before events begin. Coordinate with the culinary team to confirm food quantities, timing, presentation, and service standards. Communicate with meeting planners, guests, and hotel leadership to address last-minute changes and ensure complete guest satisfaction. Monitor food quality, presentation, and service throughout the event. Assist with identifying upselling opportunities and ensuring banquet service revenue goals are achieved. Monitor staffing needs, scheduling considerations, and inventory requirements for upcoming events. Train, coach, and support banquet associates while reinforcing hotel and brand service standards. Maintain knowledge of upcoming groups, conventions, and hotel events to ensure proper preparation. Complete required reports, checklists, and administrative tasks. Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, alcohol service (when applicable), and workplace safety standards. Provide hands-on banquet service support whenever necessary to ensure a seamless guest experience.
What You Bring:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous banquet, hotel Food & Beverage, restaurant, or event service experience required. Prior leadership, supervisory, or Banquet Captain experience preferred. Strong knowledge of banquet operations, service standards, and event execution. Experience reviewing and executing Banquet Event Orders (BEOs). Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple events, priorities, and changing guest needs in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and carrying throughout the workday. Candidates should be able to lift and move up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation. Work is performed primarily indoors within a hotel environment and may include exposure to warm temperatures, humidity, moderate noise levels, and occasional outdoor movement around the property.
