About The Glasshouse

The Glasshouse is one of New York City’s premier private event venues; a 75,000 square foot waterfront space with multiple event floors, outdoor terraces, and sweeping city views. Since opening in 2021, we have hosted a wide range of high-profile corporate, social, and nonprofit events. Our beverage program is central to every event we produce, and the team behind it is built on precision, professionalism, and a shared commitment to excellence.

The Role

We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Barback to join our beverage team on a temporary, full-time basis. You will work alongside our bartenders to keep bar stations fully stocked, organized, and guest-ready from setup through breakdown, anticipating needs before they arise and making sure nothing slows service down. This is an excellent opportunity to build experience in a high-volume, luxury hospitality environment.

This position begins as a temporary engagement with full-time hours. Strong performers will be considered for a permanent role as the team grows.

Schedule: Nights, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities

Bar Operations

  • Set up and maintain bar stations before and throughout each event
  • Restock liquor, beer, wine, mixers, ice, and garnishes proactively throughout service
  • Prepare juices, mixers, and garnishes in advance of service
  • Monitor supplies continuously and replenish before depletion
  • Collect and clear used glassware and bottles to keep the front of house guest-ready
  • Support bartenders with back of house inventory and operational needs
  • Assist with full breakdown, cleaning, and restocking at the close of each event

Guest Experience

  • Maintain a professional and courteous presence on the floor at all times
  • Respond immediately to spills and incidents to preserve safety and cleanliness
  • Contribute to a seamless guest experience through attentive, team-oriented support

Inventory & Organization

  • Track and communicate inventory levels to bartenders and event leadership
  • Assist with accurate logging and organization of bar supplies
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of all beverage products
  • Maintain clean and organized beverage storage areas before, during, and after events

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a service-oriented approach
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Basic math and problem-solving skills
  • Must meet New York State legal age requirements for alcohol service
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Professional appearance and team-oriented demeanor
  • Reliable and punctual with consistent availability for nights, weekends, and holidays

Preferred

  • Prior experience in a barback, bar support, or hospitality role
  • Basic knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, and cocktails
  • TIPS certification

Compensation & Schedule

This is a temporary, full-time position with the potential to transition to a permanent role. Hours vary based on the event calendar. Availability for nights, weekends, and holidays is required. Compensation is $29–$33 per hour, commensurate with experience.

This is a non-tipped hourly position.
