Job Summary
The Karol Hotel is a boutique hotel located in the Feather Sound area of Clearwater, FL, convenient to the beaches, St Pete, and Tampa. The Karol features 123 rooms and suites, and features Katch Restaurant and Vantage Rooftop Bar, along with ballrooms and conference rooms to host events. The Karol Hotel is part of Marriott's Tribute Portfolio.
Barbacks work at Vantage Rooftop Bar, and will be responsible for ensuring exceptional service to all guests that is consistent and continually in accordance to Marriott's Tribute Portfolio Standards.
Essential Functions
- Knowledge of all beverages to include liquors and wines
- Serves guests in an efficient courteous manner following the proper steps of service
- Work as a team with all team members within the hotel
- Keeping Back of House clean and tidy with all provided guidelines of 'everything in its place'
- Check station assigned for cleanliness of area
- Follow cash handling procedures, and must be able to explain shortages and overages
- Follow the proper steps of service consistently with every table as outlined in training manual
- Upsell items to guest at all interactions
- Bus tables quickly and quietly ensuring no sticky residue is left on the table
- Ability to carry tray
- Detail tables and remove items not in use
- Attend monthly department meetings and daily stand ups
- Perform other duties as management requests to service our guests
- Ability to use POS (point of sale) system
- Follow the procedures addressed in the training manual
- Report to work on time and in proper uniform/approved attire
- Ensure successful performance assisting guests with an exceptional experience to ensure high performing scores on Marriott's Guest Satisfaction Survey
Qualification Standards
Education & Experience
- High School diploma or higher
- Previous hospitality experience as a Barback or Serving Assistant preferred
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to use technology, e.g. tablets
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and in a potentially hot/outdoors area
- Ability to walk and bend
- Ability to lift 25 pounds
- Ability to communicate clearly
- Ability to on multiple tasks, making appropriate progress towards deadlines
- Ability to work independently, take direction and provide direction to others
- Ability to manage differing personalities within the bar, the hotel, and the community
