The Virginian Lodge is a long‑standing Jackson Hole landmark known for its welcoming Western atmosphere, lively saloon, and genuine hospitality. Our bar team is essential to creating memorable guest experiences, and the Barback plays a key support role ensuring smooth, efficient bar operations.
Responsibilities:
The Barback assists bartenders by maintaining bar cleanliness, stocking supplies, and ensuring a well-organized and high-functioning bar environment. This is a fast-paced, hands-on position perfect for individuals who enjoy teamwork, hospitality, and thrive behind the scenes.
Bar Support & Operations
Refill and restock beer, liquor, wine, mixers, garnishes, glassware, napkins, ice, and other supplies throughout service.
Ensure bartenders have all materials needed for efficient and consistent service.
Prepare basic garnishes and assist with bar prep tasks at the start of shift.
Maintain clean and organized storage areas and assist with inventory procedures.
Cleanliness & Safety
Keep bar areas clean, including wiping surfaces, clearing glassware, emptying trash, and maintaining sanitary workspaces.
Clean and polish glassware throughout the shift; ensure restocked items meet quality standards.
Maintain ice bins, bar mats, and bar tools to health and safety standards.
Support proper handling of chemicals and cleaning supplies.
Guest Service Support
Deliver friendly, approachable assistance when interacting with guests.
Restock water stations and ensure bar is presentable and inviting.
Assist in running drinks or food when needed during peak periods.
Teamwork & Collaboration
Work closely with bartenders, servers, and bar leadership to ensure seamless service.
Assist with setup and breakdown for events and lodge activities.
Uphold The Virginian Lodge’s values of warmth, teamwork, and authentic hospitality.
Qualifications:
Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment (lifting up to 50 lbs, frequent bending, standing for long periods).
Strong work ethic and reliability; ability to stay organized under pressure.
Willingness to learn and follow direction.
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must be 21+ in compliance with Wyoming alcohol service regulations.
Preferred
Previous barback, food runner, or hospitality experience.
Basic knowledge of bar operations, bar tools, and beverage terminology.
Familiarity with Wyoming liquor laws and safe alcohol service practices.
Interest in hospitality, teamwork, or progressing into bartending roles.
Schedule & Work Environment
Varied schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Fast-paced bar and saloon environment with occasional outdoor event support.
Seasonal and year-round opportunities depending on Lodge needs.
