Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine the Bariatric and Metabolic Weight Loss Center Coordinator provides administrative leadership, management, and quality program supervision for the clinical, research, and procedural activities of the Bariatric and Metabolic Weight Loss Center. The coordinator collaborates with leadership across multiple disciplines and departments to execute a cohesive organizational development strategy that aligns with the Stony Brook Medicine mission and strategic plan and maintains open and ongoing communications. The coordinator leads the development and maintenance of successful programs to provide optimal care for the Bariatric patient population. The coordinator oversees the reporting of all required patient data to the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) to ensure all deadlines are met and the Bariatric and Metabolic Weight Loss Center remains in good standing.

Duties of a Bariatric and Metabolic Weight Lost Center Coordinator may include the following but are not limited to:

  • Assures compliance of the bariatric surgery program with MBSAQIP accreditation standards, working closely with the MBS Director for all aspects of accreditation.
  • Represents the Bariatric and Metabolic Weight Loss Center at administrative meetings as appropriate.
  • Serves as a liaison between SB Hospital and Department of Surgery as related to functions of the Bariatric and Metabolic Weight Loss Center.
  • Coordinates interactions and functions of the interdisciplinary team. Works closely with the bariatric surgeons and MBSCR (data manager).
  • Develops plans and supports goals to improve outcomes across Perioperative spectrum.
  • Serves as an educational resource for the Bariatric and Metabolic Weight Loss Center.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 years clinical experience with bariatric and metabolic weight loss and 2 years of leadership experience in bariatric and metabolic weight loss.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
  • 3-5 years progressive leadership experience within bariatric and metabolic weight loss program in an academic setting.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $63.00 - 82.00 / hour.

The above salary range represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate's validated years of comparable experience. Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired.
