JOB STATEMENT
PURPOSE
Under the supervision of the Café Supervisor, the barista provides an exceptional level of service and provides excellent, friendly, and knowledgeable customer service, and maintains the highest level of professionalism and coffee and food quality. The barista role should be highly motivated and demonstrate a proven ability to communicate well with others and learn new skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Preparing and serving hot and cold drinks, such as coffee, tea, specialty beverages, and café food items. Cleaning and sanitizing work areas, utensils, and equipment. Cleaning service and seating areas. Servicing customers and taking orders. Ordering, receiving, and distributing stock supplies. Receiving and processing customer payments. Handling a cash register and cash, including end of shift close out and preparing bank deposit drops. Maintaining inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply, stocking coffee brewing equipment, and maintaining supplies, and informing the Café supervisor of inventory to be ordered. Keeping equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and informing the supervisor of needed repairs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Weather: Indoors, primarily in an environmentally controlled Café, requires most or all work to be done inside. • Noise level: Quiet to moderate. • Physical requirements: Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear, see, taste, smell, and carry weight, lift.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
One year of retail hospitality, food service, and/or customer service experience. Food Handlers Certification. Valid drivers license and the ability to be insured under ANHCs insurance.
PREferred QUALIFICATIONS
1-3 years of retail hospitality and/or customer service experience. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the social, health, educational, training, and cultural needs of the Alaska Native American Indian community.
