Purpose --------

The Barista is responsible for providing great customer service, fulfilling food and beverage orders, and completing sales transactions within a certified coffee establishment. This role also ensures the establishment operates efficiently by assisting with cleaning, food preparation, seating customers, stocking, and maintaining inventory. This is a non-exempt position and typically reports to the General Manager.

Essential Functions -------------------

Provides exceptional customer service, greets all guests with a smile and friendly disposition, while taking food and beverage orders, answers questions about menu items, and offers recommendations. Calls guests by name and thanks them for their order before they leave.

Prepares and delivers quality beverages and food products consistently to all guests by adhering to recipe and presentation standards. Operates a cash register and receives payment from guests while following all brand HMSHost customer service and cash handling policies and procedures.

Keeps the store clean, stocked, organized, and decorates customer displays so they are aesthetically pleasing and up to brand standards. Follows operational policies and procedures, including those for health & safety and security.

Professional Experience ------------------------

Must have one year of customer service experience. Preferred has at least one year of experience working in a high-volume coffee shop. Preferred previous cash handling experience.

Physical Requirements ---------------------

Requires the ability to bend, twist, walk, and stand to perform normal job functions. Ability to stand, walk for long periods of time. Can perform repetitive motions. Has the ability to bend, stoop, or kneel. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds. Use of hand dexterity for writing, grabbing, pulling, twisting, shaking, Avolta, including Dufry, HMSHost Corporation, Hudson, and affiliates.
