Position Summary
A BW Starbucks Barista prepares beverages and food items, provides customer service, and maintains a clean, organized, and efficient store environment in a fast-paced setting. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Beverage Preparation: Baristas prepare a variety of hot and cold beverages according to Starbucks' recipes and presentation standards, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks. Prepare food and beverage items with accuracy and consistency, including customized modifications, while operating commercial beverage equipment and maintaining established quality standards.
- Customer Service: Engaging with customers to take orders, make recommendations, and provide information about menu items to enhance their experience. Demonstrate an understanding of customer needs by identifying preferences, recommending appropriate products, and resolving routine concerns to support sales growth. Building customer loyalty through personalized service is essential.
- Store Maintenance: Maintaining a clean and organized workspace, including counters, equipment, and customer seating areas, to ensure a welcoming environment.
- Cash Handling: Operating cash registers and point-of-sale systems to process customer payments accurately and efficiently.
- Inventory Management: Restocking supplies such as coffee beans, syrups, and paper goods to ensure product availability for customers.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Following all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines to ensure the proper handling of food and beverages.
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Skills, Knowledge & Experience)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously, including the ability to exercise independent judgment in prioritizing beverage preparation and managing workflow during high-volume service periods.
- Ability to quickly learn and consistently apply beverage recipes, equipment operation, and point-of-sale procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous customer service or café/food and beverage experience preferred to support high-volume beverage preparation and customer engagement.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Work is performed in a fast-paced retail environment requiring standing for extended periods and frequent walking, bending, twisting, and reaching. Must be able to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 25 pounds. Work may involve exposure to confined spaces and high customer traffic. Shifts may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays. Conditions of Employment
- Must successfully pass a background check.
- Successful completion of barista training and certification in beverage preparation standards and commercial beverage equipment operation, or ability to obtain certification within a specified training period.
