The Country Club of Spartanburg is seeking experienced, hospitality-focused Bartenders to join our food and beverage team. We offer a welcoming, family-oriented private club environment where members gather to relax, connect, and enjoy exceptional food, beverage, and hospitality.

We are looking for individuals who are personable, dependable, professional, and passionate about providing attentive, personalized service. Experience in private clubs, upscale dining, or a similar hospitality environment is preferred.

Position Summary

The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages while providing professional, personalized service to Club members and their guests. This position plays an important role in creating a welcoming social atmosphere, building relationships with members, and maintaining the Club's standards for beverage quality and hospitality.

Qualifications

• Previous bartending experience required
• Private club, upscale dining, or hospitality experience preferred
• Strong working knowledge of cocktails, wine, beer, and spirits
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Professional appearance and demeanor
• Ability to accurately process member charges and perform basic math functions
• Ability to multitask and remain organized during busy service periods
• Dependable and committed to working scheduled shifts
• Knowledge of responsible alcohol service practices

Essential Responsibilities

• Welcome and acknowledge members and guests promptly and professionally
• Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages accurately, consistently, and efficiently
• Maintain knowledge of Club menus, daily specials, cocktails, wines, beers, and spirits
• Provide knowledgeable beverage recommendations based on member preferences
• Build positive relationships with members and learn individual beverage and service preferences
• Provide attentive service to members and guests at the bar and support dining service as needed
• Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked bar throughout service
• Complete bar setup, stocking, side work, breakdown, and closing responsibilities
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate product needs to management
• Properly handle glassware, bar equipment, beverages, and Club supplies
• Process member charges and checks accurately
• Follow all responsible alcohol service requirements, food safety standards, and Club policies
• Monitor member and guest satisfaction and respond promptly to requests
• Communicate member feedback, concerns, or service issues to management
• Work collaboratively with servers, culinary staff, and Club leadership to provide a consistent member experience

Licenses & Certifications

• Responsible alcohol service certification preferred
• Food safety certification preferred
• Must meet applicable legal requirements for serving alcoholic beverages

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds
• Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, and repetitive movement
• Ability to safely handle beverage cases, kegs, glassware, and bar equipment
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced indoor and outdoor service environments
