This role is pivotal in delivering an exceptional fine dining experience. The Bartender is responsible for serving classic cocktails and exciting new beverages to our customers. The bartender will greet customers, learn about their preferences, answer questions, recommend menu items, and prepare and serve beverages. You will also upsell items, create recipes, utilize proper equipment and ingredients, and handle basic cleaning duties.

 

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for guests, ensuring quality, consistency, and presentation.
  • Engage with guests, take orders, and provide recommendations based on their preferences and the bar menu.
  • Mix and garnish cocktails using standard recipes and proper techniques.
  • Verify guests’ identification to ensure compliance with legal drinking age requirements.
  • Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies as needed to maintain smooth operations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, ensuring compliance with all safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Monitor guest alcohol consumption and practice responsible service, adhering to TABC and company policies.
  • Follow all food, beverage, and alcohol service regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with servers, barbacks, and kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate service.
  • Uphold all company policies, procedures, and health & safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and laws including health and safety standards.
  • Foster a guest-focused environment, delivering a consistently outstanding hospitality experience.

Required Skills / Abilities / Competencies:

  • Excellent knowledge of mixing, garnishing, and serving drinks.
  • Ability to keep the bar organized, stocked, and clean.
  • Ability to learn cash register software used by bars or restaurants.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and focus on serving guests.
  • Positive attitude and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm when dealing with unruly and argumentative guests.
  • Knowledge of menu times and food preparation techniques is a plus but not required.
  • A passion for hospitality and a desire to inspire guests to embrace diverse cultures and cuisines.
  • Promote the culture, values, and mission of Restaurant K ensuring alignment with company standards.
  • To inspire people to embrace different cultures of the world.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Possess a current TABC certification before starting work.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a fine dining or upscale restaurant environment.
  • Minimum of two (2)+ years working experience as a bartender.
  • Completion of mixology, barkeeping, or other related training is a plus but not required.

Work Environment:

  • Working during evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate peak dining hours.
  • Occasional exposure to loud noise levels and varying temperatures, particularly when moving between the dining area and kitchen.
  • Handling guest requests or issues in real-time, which may require quick problem-solving and adaptability.
  • Collaborating with a diverse team of front-of-house and back-of-house staff in a structured yet flexible atmosphere.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand for periods of up to eight (8) hours.
  • Must have the stamina to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds at a time. Required to use assistance when available i.e. hand trucks, ramps, or another team member.
