Position Overview

South Seas Resort is seeking an energetic, personable, and guest-focused to join the team at Tarpon Tiki Bar, the lively outdoor bar located within the Bayview Pool Complex. This full-time position is responsible for delivering exceptional guest service while preparing handcrafted cocktails, specialty beverages, and classic drinks in a fun, fast-paced resort environment.

The ideal candidate thrives in an outdoor setting, enjoys building connections with guests, and takes pride in creating memorable vacation experiences through outstanding hospitality. This position primarily supports Tarpon Tiki Bar but offers opportunities to cross-train and work in other restaurants and bars throughout South Seas Resort.

Rate of Pay: Full-Time, $12.00 per hour plus tips

Essential Responsibilities

Guest Service

  • Welcome guests with a warm, friendly, and engaging attitude that reflects South Seas' commitment to exceptional hospitality.
  • Build rapport with guests by providing personalized, attentive service throughout their visit.
  • Accurately take beverage and food orders while making recommendations to enhance the guest experience.
  • Verify guest age and ensure responsible alcohol service in accordance with Florida laws and company policies.
  • Resolve guest concerns professionally while creating a positive and memorable experience.

Beverage Preparation

  • Prepare and serve a variety of classic cocktails, craft cocktails, signature drinks, frozen beverages, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Demonstrate creativity and consistency when preparing specialty cocktails.
  • Maintain beverage quality while working efficiently during high-volume service periods.
  • Recommend featured cocktails, premium spirits, wines, and beers to increase guest satisfaction and sales.
  • Ensure all beverages are presented according to South Seas standards.

Bar Operations

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar throughout each shift.
  • Restock liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, glassware, ice, and supplies as needed.
  • Accurately process guest transactions using the POS system.
  • Follow all cash handling procedures and reconcile transactions accurately.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning, stocking, and securing bar equipment.

Outdoor Pool Bar Operations

  • Work comfortably in an outdoor environment, including exposure to Florida heat, humidity, sun, wind, and changing weather conditions.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the outdoor bar, guest seating, and service areas.
  • Ensure the bar remains fully stocked and guest-ready throughout operating hours.
  • Maintain a sense of urgency while delivering outstanding service during busy poolside operations.

Teamwork

  • Collaborate with Servers, Food Runners, Culinary, Recreation, and other Food & Beverage team members to provide seamless service.
  • Support operations in other South Seas restaurants, bars, and special events as business demands require.
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and team-oriented attitude while contributing to a collaborative work environment.
  • Participate in ongoing training and maintain South Seas service standards.

Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to all health, sanitation, and food safety standards.
  • Follow responsible alcohol service guidelines and company policies.
  • Maintain compliance with all resort safety procedures and emergency protocols.
  • Report equipment issues or safety concerns promptly.

What are we looking for?

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of bartending experience in a restaurant, resort, hotel, or high-volume bar preferred.
  • Experience preparing craft cocktails, signature beverages, and premium spirits is strongly preferred.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and guest service skills.
  • Naturally personable with the ability to engage guests and create memorable experiences.
  • Previous experience in an outdoor bar, pool bar, or resort environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, and cocktail preparation.
  • Experience using POS systems and handling cash transactions.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Food Handler and Responsible Vendor certifications preferred or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able work in different types of weather sometimes extreme, including high temperatures and humidity.
