NOW HIRING: BARTENDERS & SERVERS AT OKTOBERFEST NATION

Work one of Chicago's biggest fall events.

Oktoberfest Nation is hiring Bartenders and Servers for our seasonal fall team in Fulton Market:

If you like fast-paced environments, big crowds, live music, meeting new people and being part of the energy behind a major Chicago event, this is the kind of seasonal job that does not feel like a typical shift.

We're looking for outgoing, dependable people who can move quickly, provide great guest service and stay organized when the event gets busy.

Depending on your experience and assigned position, you may work behind one of our bars or in a guest-facing service position.

Interviews generally take approximately 10 to 15 minutes.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Depending on your assigned position, responsibilities may include:

Bartending

  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages quickly and accurately.
  • Learn and follow established drink recipes and service procedures.
  • Provide friendly and efficient guest service.
  • Process transactions accurately through the POS system.
  • Check identification as required.
  • Follow all responsible alcohol-service requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, stocked and organized bar station.
  • Communicate product and supply needs.
  • Work closely with other bartenders, bar backs and managers.
  • Complete assigned opening and closing responsibilities.

Serving

  • Welcome and interact with guests.
  • Take food and beverage orders accurately.
  • Deliver food and beverages efficiently.
  • Process payments through the POS system when assigned.
  • Answer basic menu and event questions.
  • Maintain clean and organized service areas.
  • Communicate guest needs to bartenders, kitchen team members and supervisors.
  • Help keep service moving during busy event periods.

All team members should be prepared to jump in and help other food-and-beverage areas when operational needs change.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Previous bartending, serving, restaurant, bar or hospitality experience is preferred.

You do not need previous festival or pop-up experience to be a strong candidate.

We're especially looking for people who:

  • Can work quickly while staying organized.
  • Are outgoing and comfortable interacting with guests.
  • Stay friendly and composed when things get busy.
  • Have strong attention to detail.
  • Can learn our service procedures quickly.
  • Show up on time and ready to work.
  • Communicate clearly with other team members and supervisors.
  • Are comfortable learning and using a POS system.
  • Keep their assigned areas clean and organized.
  • Are comfortable standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Are comfortable working outdoors in changing fall weather.
  • Are willing to jump in and help outside their immediate station when needed.
  • Have flexible seasonal availability, particularly evenings and weekends.
  • Bring a positive attitude and good energy to the event.

Experience in bars, restaurants, nightlife, concerts, festivals, sporting events or other hospitality environments is a plus.

ALCOHOL SERVICE REQUIREMENTS

BASSET certification is required for applicable alcohol-service positions.

Team members serving alcohol must meet all applicable legal age requirements.

Candidates performing alcohol-service duties must be comfortable checking identification and following responsible alcohol-service procedures.

Experience using POS systems such as Toast or Square is preferred.

COMPENSATION

Tipped positions: $12.96 per hour plus tips

If wages plus tips do not equal the applicable Chicago minimum wage, Oktoberfest Nation will make up the difference as required by law.

Eligible employees receive Paid Leave and Paid Sick and Safe Leave in accordance with applicable City of Chicago law.

Flexible seasonal scheduling is available based on event needs and employee availability.

AVAILABILITY

This is a seasonal event position.

Seasonal full-time and part-time schedules are available.

Hours and shifts vary based on position, event schedule and availability.

Evening and weekend availability is especially important during the operating season.
