BAS Design Engineer – HVAC Controls & Building Automation
Location: St. Louis, MO
Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Position: We're looking for a BAS Design Engineer to join our growing team in the St. Louis area. This position focuses on designing building automation and HVAC control systems for commercial and industrial facilities.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of HVAC controls and enjoys turning project specifications into detailed, accurate designs that technicians can use in the field. You'll work closely with project managers, programmers, and installation teams to ensure systems are designed for successful installation and operation.

What You'll Do

• Develop BAS/DDC control drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation packages.
• Design control panel layouts, system architecture, and network diagrams.
• Select controllers, sensors, actuators, and other control system components.
• Prepare engineering submittals, points lists, and equipment schedules.
• Review mechanical plans, project specifications, and sequences of operation.
• Coordinate with project managers, technicians, and contractors to resolve design questions.
• Update drawings and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

What We're Looking For

• Experience designing Building Automation Systems (BAS), DDC, or HVAC control systems.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Visio, or similar design software.
• Strong understanding of HVAC equipment, control sequences, and electrical wiring.
• Familiarity with BAS platforms such as Niagara, Schneider Electric, Distech, Johnson Controls, Siemens, or Automated Logic.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and project specifications.
• Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, and building automation networks is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.
