Purpose of Position and Scope of Responsibility: The Assistant Baseball Coach / Pitching Coach / JV Coach supports the Head Baseball Coach in developing a successful baseball program that promotes skill development, sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork, academic accountability, and character growth among student-athletes. This position is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the varsity and junior varsity baseball programs, with a primary emphasis on pitching development, player instruction, practice organization, and game preparation.

Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Assistant Baseball Coach
- Assist the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and conducting practices and games.
- Teach and reinforce baseball fundamentals, team strategies, and proper sportsmanship.
- Help monitor academic progress, attendance, and conduct of student-athletes.
- Assist with supervision of athletes during practices, games, travel, and team activities.
- Support off-season recruiting, conditioning, player development, and program growth.
- Ensure compliance with university and athletic policies and regulations.
- Promote a positive team culture and serve as a role model for student-athletes.
- Assist with equipment management, field maintenance, and game-day operations.
- Communicate effectively with players, coaching staff, and administration.
Pitching Coach Responsibilities
- Develop and implement pitching instruction and training programs.
- Teach proper pitching mechanics, arm care, velocity development, command, and mental approach.
- Monitor pitcher workload, recovery, and injury prevention practices.
- Evaluate pitchers and assist with pitching rotations and in-game management.
- Analyze player performance and provide individualized feedback for improvement.
- Coordinate bullpen sessions, warm-up routines, and pitching drills.
- Work collaboratively with catchers and defensive staff to support game strategy.
Junior Varsity (JV) Coach Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the junior varsity baseball team under the direction of the Head Coach.
- Focus on player development and preparation for advancement to the varsity level.
- Organize JV practices, lineups, and game strategies.
- Evaluate player progress and communicate development plans to athletes and varsity staff.
- Foster fundamentals, teamwork, accountability, and sportsmanship at the developmental level.
- Assist with coordination between JV and varsity programs to ensure program continuity.
Additional Expectations
- Maintain professionalism and represent the university/community positively at all times.
- Attend coaches' meetings, clinics, and professional development opportunities as required.
- Support the overall vision and goals of the baseball program.
- Perform related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed.

Physical Requirements:
Work requires moderate physical exertion (up to 50 pounds) on a continuous basis (over 50% of time); or heavy physical exertion (over 50 pounds) on a frequent basis (up to 50% of time).
Environmental Conditions:
Work involves intermittent to occasional exposure to unpleasant working conditions or undesirable elements; may involve some contact with potentially hazardous or harmful elements in providing administrative or support services.
