The Class Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day management of assigned police recruits within the MCLETC academy. This position serves as the primary point of contact for police recruits, academy advisors and instructors during assigned instructional periods. The Class Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day activities are conducted efficiently, professionally, and in compliance with standards set forth by MCLETC and The Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB). This position is critical in ensuring the successful development, accountability, and professional readiness of police recruits. Must be a current Richland Employee to be eligible.
Required Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma required. Candidate must possess a valid driver's license. Five years' of experience in the law enforcement field or criminal justice field, with at least 2 years in a senior administrative position is required (Lieutenant, Colonel, Captain, Deputy Chief, Chief Deputy, Chief, Sheriff).

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
The position requires a background and leadership experience in law enforcement or the criminal justice field. Working knowledge of law enforcement training standards, certification requirements (curriculum, hours, attendance, and testing protocols), adult learning principles, academy procedures, personnel management and technology used in the training environment (Microsoft Office Suite, Canvas LMS).
The position requires the ability to demonstrate strong organizational skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills, supervisory skills, problem solving skills, evaluation skills and time management skills. Additionally, the position requires the ability to enforce minor violations of academy rules and standards, monitor recruit performance, serve as a liaison between recruits, advisors and assigned instructors with the Director of Training and academy leadership, adapt to changing schedules and unexpected issues and maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior military service preferred.
Physical Demands
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a 40-hour per week position with normal hours of 7:00 am to 4:00 pm with someadjustment at times to accommodate the training schedule. Occasionally irregular work hours when necessary to meet deadlines. The position may require some evening, overnight andweekend work. This position is not eligible to participate in the alternative work arrangement program.
TRAVEL
Occasional in-district and out-of-district travel required.
PHYSICAL /MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to work effectively in stressful situations.
Must be able to receive, process, and provide visual and verbal information. Provide timely response to externally imposed conditions and deadlines.
May be required to demonstrate basic physical skills, i.e. sit-ups, sit and reach, bench press, etc.
Demonstrate and instruct recruits in proper military drills that are applicable to a paramilitary structured police academy.
Respond to concurrent, multiple, non-related issues.
Work is routinely performed in office environment. Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling, using hands and fingers, stooping and occasional lifting of objects up to 20 lbs.
Salary E11 ($55,158.94-$68,948.68)
