POSITION: Head Coach - Girls'' Basketball

JOB TYPE: EXTRA DUTY (SUPPLEMENTAL ASSIGNMENT)

LOCATION: Bastrop High School

REPORTS TO: Principal

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 9 Month + 2 Months Extra (included in Coaching supplement)

SALARY: See MPSD Teacher Pay Scale + 2 Months Salary & Head Coaching Supplemental stipend per district schedule

JOB SUMMARY

Bastrop High School is seeking a dynamic, student-centered, and highly motivated professional to serve as Head Coach for the Girls' Basketball Program. The selected candidate will lead all aspects of the program, including player development, academic accountability, character building, and compliance with Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE), Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE), and Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) regulations.

This is a supplemental coaching assignment and requires the individual to be a full-time certified employee (teacher) at Bastrop High School.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, organize, and direct all phases of the girls' basketball program
  • Promote academic success, discipline, and sportsmanship
  • Ensure compliance with LHSAA, LDOE, and BESE regulations
  • Develop off-season conditioning programs
  • Supervise assistant coaches
  • Maintain records and manage program resources
  • Coordinate team travel and transportation
  • Build relationships with stakeholders

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Full-time certified employee (teacher) at Bastrop High School or eligible
  • Valid Louisiana teaching certificate
  • Knowledge of basketball coaching
  • Meets LHSAA coaching requirements
  • Valid driver's license
  • CDL endorsement or willingness to obtain

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Coaching experience
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Knowledge of LHSAA compliance
