POSITION OVERVIEW

Morehouse Parish School District is seeking a highly motivated and student-centered Middle School Math Teacher to support academic excellence at Bastrop High School, a Title I campus focused on student growth and equity. The ideal candidate will deliver rigorous, standards-aligned mathematics instruction, develop students' conceptual understanding, and foster problem-solving, reasoning, and mathematical discourse in a supportive learning environment.

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS

Employment Type: Full-Time 9-Month Contract

Salary: In accordance with the MPSD Teacher Pay Scale and applicable state guidelines

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver standards-aligned instruction based on Louisiana Student Standards for Mathematics
  • Develop students' conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and problem-solving skills
  • Use formative and summative assessments to drive instructional decisions
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
  • Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment aligned with PBIS expectations
  • Collaborate with colleagues through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
  • Ensure compliance with FERPA, IDEA, Section 504, and district policies
  • Engage families and stakeholders to support student success
  • Integrate instructional technology to enhance student engagement
  • Promote mathematical reasoning and real-world application

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate in Mathematics (Grades 6-12 or appropriate certification area) or eligibility through an LDOE-approved pathway
  • Knowledge of Louisiana Student Standards for Mathematics
  • Demonstrated skills in classroom management, differentiated instruction, and data-driven teaching
  • Understanding of federal and state education regulations (FERPA, IDEA, Section 504)
  • Proficiency with instructional technology and student data systems
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Commitment to equity, student achievement, and continuous professional growth
  • Candidates enrolled in an approved Teacher Preparation Program must provide proof of enrollment, completed coursework, and official Praxis scores (if applicable)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Mathematics, education, or related field
  • 1-3 years of successful teaching experience at the middle or secondary level
  • Experience in a Title I school setting or working with diverse populations
  • Knowledge of Louisiana accountability systems and Tier 1 curriculum resources
  • Experience with MTSS/RTI, progress monitoring, and data analysis
  • Strong background in mathematics instruction and intervention strategies
  • Experience supporting diverse learners, including English learners and students with disabilities
  • Participation in PLCs or collaborative instructional teams
