The Batch Operator accurately prepares and processes production batches according to strict manufacturing formulas while operating and maintaining production equipment in a fast-paced, labor-intensive environment. This role verifies raw materials, records detailed production and quality data, and supports safe and efficient operations through equipment operation, troubleshooting, and minor preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Verify raw material identification and confirm package weights before batching to ensure accuracy and compliance with manufacturing specifications.
  • Accurately process batches according to strict manufacturing formulas and established production procedures.
  • Operate, monitor, and adjust production equipment to maintain consistent product quality and throughput.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting on production machinery to identify and resolve routine operational issues.
  • Carry out minor preventive maintenance on machinery to support reliable equipment performance and reduce downtime.
  • Perform production line changeovers, including equipment adjustments and setup, to accommodate different products or formulations.
  • Operate both sit-down and stand-up forklifts safely to move raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products as required.
  • Record complete and accurate data on quality control and production records, ensuring all documentation is current and compliant with internal standards.
  • Follow all safety procedures and operational guidelines while working in a hot, dusty, and physically demanding environment.
  • Climb stairs and ladders, including up to five stories in the mill, as needed to access equipment and perform batching or maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to maintain efficient workflow and support continuous improvement in production processes.

Essential Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in production or manufacturing environments, particularly in batching, mixing, or compounding operations.
  • Ability to accurately follow strict manufacturing formulas and written procedures.
  • Hands-on machine operation experience with production equipment, including start-up, adjustment, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency operating sit-down and stand-up forklifts in a production or warehouse setting.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand how machinery functions and identify basic mechanical issues.
  • Experience performing minor preventive maintenance on machinery to support safe and reliable operation.
  • Capability to perform labor-intensive tasks, including lifting, carrying, and extended periods of standing and walking.
  • Comfort working in hot, dusty, and dirty environments and maintaining productivity under these conditions.
  • Ability to climb up to five stories in a mill environment safely and repeatedly as part of daily duties.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in recording production and quality control data.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills to identify and address equipment issues in a timely manner.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with chemical production, mixing, or compounding processes.
  • Proficiency in general labor roles within industrial, manufacturing, or mill environments.
  • Familiarity with Human-Machine Interface (HMI) systems for monitoring and controlling equipment.
  • Experience performing minor preventive maintenance (PMs) on production machinery.
  • Interest in progressing into more advanced technical operator roles as skills and experience grow.
  • Willingness to learn new equipment, processes, and technologies in a manufacturing setting.

Why Work Here?

You join a production team that values mechanical aptitude, initiative, and hands-on problem solving. As you build your skills and experience, you can progress into more advanced technical operator opportunities, including the potential for pay increases tied to your development. The environment rewards individuals who enjoy working with machinery, learning HMI systems, and contributing to reliable and efficient production operations.

Work Environment

This role is based in a mill and production facility that is hot, dusty, and dirty, requiring comfort in a physically demanding industrial setting. Work is labor intensive and involves frequent lifting, climbing, and movement throughout the facility. You may need to climb up to five stories in the mill to access equipment and perform batching or maintenance tasks. Production equipment, including mixers, batching systems, and other machinery, operates continuously, and you will regularly use both sit-down and stand-up forklifts.
