    Job Description Summary

                   

    This position is responsible for constant monitoring of the batter system. It requires the ability to operate and troubleshoot the batter equipment. This position is also responsible for maintaining the flume additives and for monitoring the starch slurry system. Batter Operators may be qualified in another position of equal or greater pay from current full-time position when batter operations are not running. Other position to be qualified in will be at the discretion of management based on plant needs and openings.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Understands how to look up QA Specifications for batter.
    • Understands product codes and labels on batter tickets and how to use manifest to track inventory.
    • Safely opens, handles and hangs batter bags.
    • Maintains dry batter hopper and auger levels as needed.
    • Assembles/Disassembles batter equipment when needed.
    • Maintains expected level of sanitation in work area.
    • Fills out paperwork as required.
    • Must have a good understanding of chemicals and the hazards associated with the processing area.
    • Performs assigned duties during cut changes and defrost as required.
    • Cleans under and around batter mix areas, and additive areas
    • Willing to learn additional Operator roles, in addition to job responsibilities for breaking purposes. Example: Fryer Operator
    • Ability to use computer to enter checks with Military time
    • Ability to operate various tools and equipment, including but not limited to: high pressure hose, flash lights, hot hose, shovels, scrapers, foaming system, brooms, squeegees, telephones, ladders (roll around stairs) , buckets, control panels/terminals , stein cups , stop watches and waste carts.
    • Monitors and controls the amount of dextrose and salt added to the flume water supply tank to attain target color and salt content in the finished product.
    • Monitors and adjusts sugar mix tank concentration and starch baume and levels as required.
    • Starts-up, shuts-down and controls starch recovery system in such a manner to maintain quality level and maximize recovery.
    • Maintain efficiency of starch recovery system.
    • Performs assigned duties during cut changes.
    • Be able to qualify in another position of equal to or greater pay from current full-time position and work in such capacity, when not needed as a Batter Operator.
    • Perform any other duties as assigned.

    Education/ Certifications: (Required & Preferred)

    • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
    • Lock-out/Tag-out, Forklift, and Sanitation certification are required. If you are not qualified, you will be trained and must meet certification requirements. 


    Skills and Experience:

    • Experience driving forklift in warehouse or manufacturing establishment preferred.  
    • Must be able to be qualified within time frames established by facility. 
    • Ability to perform basic math functions, required. 
    • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer operation knowledge, data entry skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
    • Effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing. Ability to understand instructions and follow directions in English, both written and oral. (Requirement may vary by location). 

    Physical Environment/Demands:

    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.
    • Exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature
    • Exposure to manufacturing environments for up to 8 hours per work day to include: loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, smells and allergies
    • Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for job actions and procedures.
    • Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.
    • Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work related equipment
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
    • Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Freezer Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Plant Operation
    • May have to sample food while evaluating Lamb Weston products
    • Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders on a regular basis

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to a candidate's work location, job duties, experience and expertise. A reasonable hourly estimate for this role is listed below.
