  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or a similar technical field
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Battery cell experience: winding, cell assembly, and electrolyte fill on automotive cells (2+ years; 5+ preferred)
  • Manufacturing production preparation and schedule/deliverable management
  • Onsite in Liberty, NC; must able to work weekends/shutdowns and travel up to 15% (incl. international)


About the Role

A leading automotive EV battery manufacturer’s Battery Manufacturing Engineering (Battery Cell) department is seeking a passionate, highly motivated Engineer to join its process/product-quality advancement and problem-solving group. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role leads planning and problem-solving in pre-production trial activity — issue identification, root cause analysis, resolution, recurrence prevention / continuous improvement (kaizen), and trial project management — to deliver rapid competitiveness improvements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead a cross-functional team collaborating with equipment
  • Engage and resolve material, product, and process issues (internal and external)
  • Create and implement working/trial plans for confirmation & problem-solving using structured Lean problem-solving methods
  • Create detailed technical and summary reports for organizational learning
  • Provide input to process & equipment plans/specifications for continuous improvement and issue recurrence prevention
  • Use and advance systems and procedures for problem solving and learning capture
  • Manage individual activity, status visualization/reporting, and reflection
  • Lead internal and external partner relationships aligned to team objectives
  • Support department strategy/direction (policy deployment) for organizational advancement
  • Support standardization and continuous improvement of department systems and processes
  • Mentor and teach team members on battery knowledge, trial planning/execution, data analysis, and Lean principles

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or a similar technical field
  • 3+ years of equivalent engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Manufacturing production preparation and schedule/deliverable management (project plan, process/equipment plan, specification & procurement, installation, trial)
  • Winding, cell assembly & electrolyte fill on automotive cells (2+ years; 5+ preferred)
  • Battery cell product, processes/equipment, and/or trial activity
  • Coordinating across production engineering, manufacturing, R&D, and Quality; reporting to senior leadership
  • Interpreting & applying product/process specifications, drawings, and data (new material introduction/validation, change-point management)
  • Ability for weekend/shutdown work, overtime up to 25%, and travel up to 15% (domestic and international)
