BCAPA Music Instructor

Bethel College of Kansas invites applications for the Music Instructor Position at Bethel College Academy of Performing Arts (BCAPA). BCAPA is seeking part-time music instructors to teach private lessons in violin, viola, cello, piano, flute, guitar, brass instruments, double reeds, and voice. We welcome applications from candidates who can teach multiple instruments or those specializing in one. The role focuses on private lessons for school-aged children and adults, with potential opportunities to lead group classes and chamber ensembles. Flexible hours range from 2-3 hours per week to 15- 20 hours per week, based on student interest and instructor availability. BCAPA offers competitive pay on a sliding scale depending on qualifications, education, and experience. Essential Functions

  • Teach private strings lessons to school aged children and adults on a weekly basis
  • Prepare materials/lesson plans prior to weekly lessons
  • Create an encouraging learning environment for all students
  • Prepare students to perform at music recitals at the end of each semester
  • Communicate teaching availability and make up lesson schedules to BCAPA''s Music Coordinator
  • Attend BCAPA staff meetings twice per year

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in music or a related field, or equivalent teaching experience
  • Experience working with children and families
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to use a variety of teaching techniques to promote student success
