JOB TITLE: BD ENGINEER NETWORK PAY GRADE: IT 10 DUTY DAYS: 226 FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT DATE REVISED: 09/02/2026 HC FUNDING SOURCE: THIS POSITION IS BOND FUNDED.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or a Diploma from an accredited technical institute and ten (10) years recent support experience with direct emphasis on network system architecture and design is required. The incumbent should have received technical certifications equivalent to either a CCIE certification and/or a CCNP certification. A minimum of five (5) years of recent advanced network system design and system integration experience is preferred. SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Proficiency
with
various
network
system
applications
and
utilities
including
but
not
limited
to
Word,
Excel,
Visio,
Nagios, WhatsUp, VMWare, diagnostic utilities, and various scripting tools.
Profound
comprehension
of
fundamental
networking
protocols,
encompassing
TCP/IP,
BGP,
OSPF,
EIGRP,
VLANs, MultiCast/UniCast, and STP.
Extensive
practical
experience
with
enterprise-level
networking
hardware,
such
as
core
and
distribution
switches, high-capacity routers, and sophisticated security appliances.
Expertise
in
industry-standard
security
practices,
specifically
in
VPN
configuration,
Access
Control
Lists
(ACLs),
and firewall policy administration.
Adeptness
in
Python,
Ansible,
or
comparable
scripting
tools
to
facilitate
network
automation
and
infrastructure-as-code strategies.
Possession
of
pertinent
industry
networking
certifications
is
preferred
as
evidence
of
technical
expertise
and
ongoing professional growth.
Demonstrated
capability
to
resolve
intricate
network
complications
rapidly
while
under
significant
pressure.
Exceptional
oral
and
written
communication
abilities
for
recording
network
architectures
and
partnering
with
diverse technical teams.
Dedication
to
lifelong
learning
and
the
capacity
to
incorporate
modern
technologies,
including
AI-based
network oversight and cloud-native systems, into current frameworks. JOB PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY: Incumbent performs management duties and technical work associated with the production data and voice network for the district. This position is responsible for the network planning, project management, technical recommendations, and executive briefings to management. This position requires combining network design skills with business knowledge and should demonstrate strong technical expertise. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

network
design

deployment.

of
networking
technologies
and
products
for
implementation.
Lead
teams
of
other
network
analysts
and
engineers
in
developing
detailed
designs
and
quality-control
mechanisms during implementation.
Communicate
the
role
and
value
of
the
network
to
the
organization
and
present
the
business
case
for
technology investments.
Continually
update
understanding
of
business
and
technology
status
and
objectives
and
respond
to
strategic
design requests as the business evolves.
Perform
other
related
work
as
assigned.
Manage
incident
analysis
occurring
in
the
network
and
work
with
other
Technology
Group
staff
to
develop recommendations to improve enterprise systems.
Write
and
deliver
reports
on
projects
and
document
system
designs
and
architecture.
Research
new
products
and
technologies.
Maintain
organized
documentation
of
the
network
environment.
Provide
an
exceptional
customer
experience
for
all
AISD
stakeholders
with
intentional
and
professional practices
that promote a culture of respect.. OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED: Perform other related duties as assigned; however, all employees are expected to comply with lawful directives in rare situations driven by need where a team effort is required. Incumbent is expected to make decisions, prioritize, and perform work in a timely manner and solve problems without consulting the supervisor. Supervisor provides guidance and direction when special projects arise, when clarification on specifications is necessary, and in review of the final work product. Contacts include department co-workers, various district personnel that represent the users, vendors, and outside organizations.
