BDC Assistant Manager / Buying Center Assistant Manager

 

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated, customer-focused BDC Assistant Manager / Buying Center Assistant Manager to support the daily operations of our Business Development Center and Buying Center. This leadership position is responsible for assisting with team management, customer follow-up, manager calls, appointment generation, vehicle acquisition efforts, performance coaching, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.

The ideal candidate is an organized, results-driven professional who can lead by example, support team development, and help drive department performance. Automotive, BDC, or leadership experience is preferred; however, we are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates strong leadership potential, communication skills, and a desire to learn and grow within our organization.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Leadership & Team Support

  • Assist in managing the daily operations of the BDC and Buying Center.
  • Lead, motivate, and support team members to achieve departmental goals.
  • Assist with employee coaching, training, and performance development.
  • Help onboard new team members and ensure adherence to company processes.
  • Foster a positive, customer-focused work environment.

 

Customer Follow-Up & Lead Management

  • Ensure timely follow-up with internet leads, phone inquiries, and vehicle acquisition opportunities.
  • Monitor CRM activity to ensure accurate customer records and communication.
  • Manage appointment-setting efforts and help improve appointment show rates.
  • Review and address missed opportunities to maximize conversions.
  • Oversee outbound call, text, and email campaigns.

 

Manager Calls & Customer Escalations

  • Conduct manager calls to support appointment confirmations, customer retention, and sales opportunities.
  • Handle escalated customer concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Assist with customer conflict resolution and relationship-building efforts.
  • Support management in maintaining high customer satisfaction scores.

 

Buying Center & Vehicle Acquisition Support

  • Assist customers interested in selling or trading their vehicles.
  • Support vehicle acquisition initiatives and inventory growth efforts.
  • Coordinate with appraisal and management teams to maximize purchasing opportunities.
  • Track acquisition appointments and performance metrics.

 

Performance & Reporting

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and team productivity.
  • Assist in preparing reports and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Support department goals through process improvement and accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and expectations.

 

Qualifications

 

Required

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional, positive, and team-oriented attitude.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and willingness to learn dealership software.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

 

Preferred

  • Previous BDC, automotive sales, customer service, call center, or dealership experience.
  • Supervisory, leadership, or team lead experience.
  • Experience handling customer escalations and manager calls.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and lead management processes.
