Position: Before/After School Program Coordinator Reports To: Building Principal Work Year Days: Must be available school days Monday-Friday(Not required on snow days, professional days or during vacation weeks.) Work Hours: Must be available from 7:00 AM - 8:25 AM and 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM Educational/Training /Experience/License Required:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field.
  • Basic knowledge of educational organization, administration, supervision and curriculum development.
  • Skill in relating to and communicating with groups and individuals such as parents, students, teachers, administrators and School Committee.
  • Skill in discussing student needs and development with parents.
  • Working knowledge of techniques of classroom management/discipline.

Accountability Objective: This position is accountable for coordinating the before and after school programs, providing quality care for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. The program is designed to meet the needs of children in Berlin for a safe, supervised environment in which appropriate and stimulating activities are implemented by quality staff. Responsibilities:

  • Assist school principal with hiring staff and manage daily staff work schedule to insure proper coverage
  • Develop and maintain payment/fees to ensure solid financial base; oversee and maintain record keeping of all purchases, payroll, deposits, and balances.
  • Develop program handbook, procedures and daily schedule.
  • Manage student enrollment procedures; including providing all information to parents, collected the registration forms, notifying classroom teachers of student schedule, and provide family with monthly bill.
  • Manage daily attendance recording and monitoring to ensure students are dismissed to appropriate spot.
  • Purchase snacks and materials needed for program.
  • Communicate concerns and updates to parents; including collecting any unpaid feeds.
  • Follow staff responsibilities and procedures during program hours.
  • Make safety decisions for the group if an issue occurs.
  • Respond to all parent communications (emails, letters, and phone calls)
  • Manage student grouping and locations during program hours.
  • Follow program time schedule.
  • Monitor the safety of each student: initial attendance and head counts when transitioning locations.
  • Support homework completion.
  • Plan/execute activity each day for small or whole group.
  • Have walkie-talkie with you in each program location.
  • All areas need to be cleaned at the end of each day and materials put neatly away in all areas.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be willing to be a team player and work closely with all school administration and support personnel.
  • Working knowledge of elementary schools and how the coordinator can effectively work within an elementary school educational setting.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: August 2026 - June 2027 SALARY: $32.00 per hour
