Position: Behavior Management Specialist, FT

Category: Classified Staff

Currently: Full time, 182 days per year, 7 hours per day

Location: Currently at Alliance Elementary School

Reports to: Building Principal

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree, preferred
  • Ohio Department of Education - Education Aide Certificate
  • Successful passage of the Parapro Assessment OR equivalent of at least 2 (two) years of college credit
  • Confidentiality

  • Ability to problem solve and demonstrate initiative to prevent problems

  • Previous experience with children in a learning environment

Basic Responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervise the students who have been assigned
  • Distribute assignments from the teachers to the students
  • Assist the students as needed with their course work
  • Understand and maintain the academic and behavioral standards set for the students by the Principal and Administration
  • Coach students in problem solving and social skills
  • Provide crisis intervention assistance as directed by the Principal
  • Conduct individual or group advising sessions related to behavior
  • Exercise diplomacy in answering questions and resolve situations involving students, parents, public and/or school staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Attend in-services, meetings and/or training programs as required by Board Policy, the Superintendent or his designee
  • Perform home visits as required by the Superintendent or his designee
  • Ride the bus with students as required by the Superintendent or his designee
  • Monitor after school student interventions as required by the Superintendent or his designee

Additional Duties

  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, Superintendent and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
