The Behavior Specialist is responsible for the development and daily oversight of behavior education services. This will include the direct training of Direct Support Staff.
Responsibilities:
Completion of initial standardized assessments and baseline assessments of functioning.
The development of individual goals and objectives to be included in the Individual Support Plan.
The development of teaching procedures for the implementation of each of the goals and objectives in the Individual Support Plan.
The collection of data for each goal and objective frequency as defined in the teaching plans and programs.
The submission of all data sheets to agency Consulting Psychologist and/or Clinical Director as directed.
Completion of progress reports as noted in Individual Support Plan.
Analysis of data collected and development of graphic data presentations to determine teaching program effectiveness.
Participation in Team meetings for all individuals assigned on caseload as needed.
Schedule and facilitate training and observation sessions with staff as needed.
Communicate any educational, behavioral or family concerns to immediate supervisor in a timely manner.
Participate in staff training as assigned or per agency policy.
Implements and fosters the principles of self-advocacy which promote an independent lifestyle and respect for program participants.
Communicates effectively with a variety of community agencies, businesses and members, verbally or in writing.
Adheres to all Human Rights policies and procedures, completes incident reports as needed, and provides the least restrictive environment, while adhering to each participant’s level of supervision.
Is a Safety Care Trainer
Master’s Degree preferred.
ABA or BCBA certification or close to completion of certification required (RBT certification is not an eligible exception).
