Behavior Support Teacher
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for working collaboratively with school-based staff and student support teams to support students experiencing behavior challenges. The Behavior Support Teacher will observe, assess student behavior, model and demonstrate teaching strategies and self-regulation strategies, contribute to the evaluation process, and respond to teacher and student needs.
Essential Duties:
1. Assist staff in defining and measuring behavior, identify antecedents, teach replacement behaviors and implement strategies for reducing challenging behaviors
2. Support school team in collecting and analyzing behavioral data to effectively make decisions regarding the implementation of appropriate behavioral interventions
3. Assist in developing interventions, functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans for students who have needs beyond the general education classroom systems of support
4. Work with students individually and in small groups to provide direct instruction and implement interventions to teach and reinforce expected behaviors
5. Model and demonstrate evidence-based strategies in the instructional setting

Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess a bachelor's degree or higher and hold a valid TN Teaching License
Special Education Endorsement preferred
