**Job Description** **The** **University of Washington Autism Center (UWAC)** **has an outstanding opportunity for a** **Behavior Technician (BT)** **to join their team.** **About this Opportunity** Reporting to a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the Behavior Technician is responsible for delivering direct, individualized intervention services to young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a clinic-based setting. This role supports the implementation of evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) treatment plans, contributes to skill development and behavior improvement, and plays a vital role in supporting children and families while maintaining UW Autism Center clinical standards and practices. This position is located at the UW Seattle Campus. Employees MUST be available during ABA Day Program hours - 8:30-11:30 and 1:30-4:30 Tuesday- Friday. Schedule can be up to 40 hours - (Tuesday-Fridays 8:00-6:30) but is negotiable based on clinic need and applicant availability. Hours may be subject to change based on client need or schedule. **Key Responsibilities** + To provide direct intervention to children (ages 12 months to 6 years) with ASD in a clinic setting. + To accurately record client intervention data and manage records. + To develop individualized materials used in therapy + To attend meetings, as necessary. PROVIDE INTERVENTION - 60% + Work 1:1 with children age 12 months through 6years of age and their parents + Implement intervention protocols developed by BCBA to increase skills/reduce problem behaviors. + Provide responsible, positive, sensitive intervention and care during therapy. + Apply ABA principles in therapy; tailor procedures to fit individual interests/needs. + Work under close supervision of master's level BCBA. + Assist in completion of curriculum assessments, as necessary. ORGANIZING/MAINTAINING THERAPY SPACE - 20% + Maintain clinic therapy spaces in an organized, clean, and child-proof manner. + Follow sanitizing and cleaning procedures. + Follow COVID-19 precaution procedures and protocols. + Set up therapeutic materials prior to start of program and clean up at end of program + Comply withsnack, diaper, and toileting procedures to ensure hygiene and safety with clients. DEVELOP MATERIALS - 10% + Create and produce picture cards, books, and other visual supports as needed for the therapy program. + Create and produce motivation charts, token boards, PECS icons, visual schedules, play materials, etc. MANAGING RECORDS AND DATA COLLECTION -10% + Organize and maintain computer and paper records of therapy including collecting and accurately recording data in each therapy session, graphing data, and completing treatment notes. **Required Qualifications** To be considered for this opportunity, your application must demonstrate you meet both the minimum qualifications listed below. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute when permitted. **Minimum Qualifications** Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be forwarded to the hiring department. + Two years of college-level coursework in a relevant academic field and two years of experience as a Research Study Assistant, or equivalent education and/or experience **Additional Qualifications** + Ability and willingness to interact with young children in a spontaneous and creative manner + Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills + Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with parents, children, and professionals + Experience working with toddler-, preschool-, or elementary-aged children + Ability to provide physical care, including moving young children (12-48 months), diapering, and toilet training as needed **P** **referred Qualifications** + Certified Behavior Technician (CBT) credential through the Washington State Department of Health + Bachelor's degree in psychology, education, human/child development, or a related field + Training or experience with early intensive behavioral intervention, applied behavior analysis, early intervention, developmental psychology, or special education + Experience working directly with children and families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder + Willingness to commit to the position for at least 12 months to support continuity of care **W** **orking Conditions** + Work is performed in a clinical setting with young children + Position requires frequent bending, lifting, standing, and floor-based activities + Routine exposure to bodily fluids during diapering and toileting activities + Adherence to infection control, sanitization, and public-health safety procedures **About the Team** The UW Autism Center (UWAC) is part of the University of Washington's Center on Human Development and Disability and includes faculty and staff from the School of Medicine, College of Arts & Sciences, and College of Education.
