About this Job

One of ten districts across Louisiana, MHSD was created by the state legislature in 2003 to oversee the delivery of publicly funded, community-based mental health, addictive disorders and developmental disabilities services to our area. MHSD serves adults, children and families of Orleans, Plaquemines and St. Bernard Parishes. In particular, we serve residents who are uninsured, or Medicaid eligible/covered, individuals suffering from mental illness, individuals suffering from addiction, and individuals who have developmental and/or intellectual disabilities.

Metropolitan Human Services District is seeking a qualified Behavioral Health Center Manager B to provide leadership, direction, and operational oversight for behavioral health programs. This position is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered services, leading multidisciplinary teams, promoting ethical and professional practices, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and applicable regulations while fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Minimum Qualifications

A master's degree in a social science, health or human services, or health administration field plus four years of experience in health services, social services, nursing, or counseling; OR

A doctorate in a social science, health or human services, or health administration field, or a medical degree plus three years of experience in health services, social services, nursing, or counseling.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

Some key responsibilities as a Behavioral Health Center Manager B are :

  • Directs the operation of clinic services that include outpatient mental health and substance use services, individual admissions and discharges, crisis intervention services, resource coordination services, community support services, quality assurance/continuous quality improvement programs and other relevant center supported mental health services when provided.
  • Implements and ensures daily compliance with agency and division standard operating procedures, to include those related to access, clinic flow, registration, billing, orders, referrals, compliance, etc.
  • Directs clinic activities supporting the accounting functions including billing, remittance reports, banking, and the collection of monies according to agency policy, etc. May develop budget requests and monitor expenditures
  • Supervises the clinics staff by establishing and maintaining work schedules and assignments. Monitors job performance of direct reports using Civil Service Continuous Performance Management method.
  • Sets goals, defines, monitors, and refines work standards, policies. and procedures.
  • Monitors approval and use of annual leave to ensure adequate staff coverage for the clinic.
  • Coordinates staff development and training to provide tools the staff needs to function adequately.

Appointment Type: Probational

Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
