Compensation: $24 $28/hour (Dependent on Experience)
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)
TAG MedStaffing is hiring a Behavioral Health Counselor (Substance Abuse) in Philadelphia, PA for our client, supporting recovery services, counseling, and program coordination within a residential treatment environment. This role focuses on providing individual and group counseling, supporting participants in maintaining a substance-free lifestyle, and contributing to a structured and supportive setting. The position requires experience working with substance use populations, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a clinical team.
Responsibilities as the Behavioral Health Counselor (Substance Abuse):
- Counseling Services: Provide individual and group counseling to support recovery and treatment goals.
- Program Support: Develop and reinforce strategies to promote substance-free lifestyles for participants.
- Care Coordination: Collaborate with staff to support individuals with co-occurring conditions and behavioral needs.
- Environment Management: Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive residential setting in compliance with guidelines.
- Documentation: Record participant progress and support care planning activities.
- Crisis Support: Assist with intervention and support during urgent or high-need situations as required.
Qualifications for the Behavioral Health Counselor (Substance Abuse):
- Education: Bachelors degree in Human Services, Social Sciences, or a related field is required, with a masters degree preferred.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience working with substance use populations is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of recovery support systems and substance abuse treatment is required.
- Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in documentation systems and Microsoft Office is required.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong communication, empathy, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and within a team are required.
- Licensure: Valid drivers license is required.
