POSITION SUMMARY

The Behavioral Health House Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of assigned behavioral health residential homes, ensuring resident safety, well-being, regulatory compliance, and a therapeutic living environment. This role supervises Community Living Associates, coordinates staffing and household operations, and partners with clinical and program leadership to implement behavioral plans, person-centered goals, medical supports, and quality services.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND CORE COMPETENCIES

• Supervise the daily operations of assigned behavioral health homes in accordance with NCIA standards, Developmental Disabilities Administration requirements, court-ordered support requirements, and applicable laws and regulations.
• Supervise, schedule, coach, and evaluate Community Living Associates across shifts; address call-outs and confirm staff training and credential requirements remain current.
• Ensure attendance, care tracking, behavior plans, person-centered plan goals, and behavioral and medical data are accurately implemented and documented in ICM within required timeframes.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and therapeutic home environment through routine inspections, enforcement of house guidelines, emergency preparedness, fire drills, water-temperature checks, and timely maintenance requests.
• Coordinate resident admissions, transfers, discharges, appointments, scheduled outings, leisure activities, and transportation supports with program and clinical leadership.
• Monitor medication supplies, administration, reordering, new or changed orders, documentation, and prompt reporting of medication issues or errors.
• Maintain appropriate food, household, toiletry, linen, and supply inventories; prepare the home for new admissions and ensure proper storage practices.
• Ensure incident reports, safety reports, required notifications, and other records are completed accurately and on time in accordance with Agency and DDA requirements.
• Maintain accountability for petty cash and resident funds, submit receipts and designated forms promptly, and report discrepancies or irregularities.
• Communicate professionally with residents, families, staff, leadership, clinicians, community professionals, vendors, and other stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality.
• Use relevant technology, software, and platforms to manage data, streamline work, and support operational productivity.
• Assume on-call responsibilities and respond on-site to emergencies as assigned.
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned that are consistent with the scope and purpose of the position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires the ability to remain stationary for extended periods; move throughout residential and office work areas; walk, stand, climb stairs, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and perform occasional pushing, pulling, and assisted lifting of up to 50 lbs.; operate standard office equipment and technology; communicate effectively; and maintain the visual ability necessary to perform essential duties. These requirements are necessary to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, in accordance with applicable law.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor of Arts or Science degree from an accredited college or university in behavioral health, psychology, social sciences, or a related field preferred. Relevant supervisory, case management, and/or intellectual and developmental disability services experience may substitute for education.

Experience: Relevant experience supervising staff, managing residential services, supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, and coordinating behavioral health or case-management services.

Licenses/Certifications: Must obtain and maintain Certified Medication Technician, Mandt, and CPR/First Aid certifications; complete advanced Mandt training as required; and complete required training related to CFAP residents and individuals classified as sexual offenders.

Knowledge and Skills: Ability to interpret policies, procedures, professional materials, and governmental regulations; prepare reports and business correspondence; present information effectively; apply sound judgment and practical problem-solving; and perform basic mathematical calculations.

Background Requirements: Must be able to successfully complete a criminal background check, fingerprinting, and drug screening.

Driving Requirements: Valid Maryland Driver's License with fewer than 3 points, reliable transportation, and an acceptable driving record under Agency and insurance-carrier criteria.

Work Schedule: Flexible schedule including evenings, overnights, weekends, on-call coverage, local travel, and on-site response to emergencies as assigned. Work is performed primarily indoors in office and community-living settings, with occasional outdoor activity, frequent deadlines, and possible video and/or audio monitoring.

Education and/or Experience:

• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, individuals, customers, and the public.

Mathematical Skills:

• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

• Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and effectively address a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
• Ability to interpret and apply various instructions presented in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule formats.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• Achieve and maintain current certifications in Certified Medication Technician (CMT), MANDT, and CPR/First Aid (CPR/FA)
• Obtain advanced Mandt training as required or deemed appropriate for the role.
• Complete training on CFAP residents and individuals classified as sexual offenders.

• Ability to see close (20 inches or less) and in the distance (20 feet or more), distinguish colors, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

• Primarily inside, occasionally outside, busy office environment, community living homelike environment, frequent deadlines, frequent local travel to and from assigned homes and day programs.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, overnights, and weekends. Must be able to respond on-site to emergency situations Mondays through Fridays and when on-call.
• Work environment may include video and/or audio monitoring.
