    Job Summary:

    Mission Health is seeking a Medical Director to lead our multidisciplinary behavioral health team located in Asheville, North Carolina.

    Qualified Candidates:

    • Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry
    • Minimum of 5 years of previous experience as a practicing psychiatrist
    • Minimum of 3 years of medical director and leadership experience

    Position Highlights:

    • 50% clinical and 50% administrative responsibilities
    • Supervises large behavioral team comprised of over 38 total physicians and advanced practice providers
    • Ensures clinical standards, patient safety and quality, and collaboration with hospital interdisciplinary teams on protocols and regulations
    • Collaborates with two schools for GME programs
    • 7 on/7 off schedule with 10-hour shifts covering geriatric unit
    • Provides Collaborative Care Management (CoCM) consultation with employed primary care integrated clinicians
    • Involvement in teaching and supervision as part of new residency training program through MAHEC, with academic appointments possible
    • Please note that this position does not offer visa support

    AboutMission Health’s Behavioral Health Services:

    • 120-bed freestanding behavioral health hospital, Sweeten Creek, which opened in 2023
    • Two adult, one geriatric, one child, and one adolescent inpatient units
    • 23-bed emergency department psychiatric evaluation area and 10-bed behavioral health pod in the new Mission Hospital emergency department
    • Consultation on the pediatrics service and in the emergency department
    • Active ECT program
