Position Overview
We are seeking a
Nurse Manager – Behavioral Health to provide 24-hour nursing leadership and accountability for an inpatient behavioral health unit. This position will oversee daily unit operations, staff performance, patient care quality, regulatory compliance, staffing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate is currently working in an
inpatient behavioral health setting, preferably as an
Assistant Nurse Manager or similar nursing leader who is ready to advance into a Nurse Manager role.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate daily operations of the inpatient behavioral health unit.
- Ensure safe, high-quality patient care and compliance with nursing standards.
- Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to nursing staff.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Monitor staffing, patient care, operational, and clinical performance.
- Implement evidence-based practices and performance improvement initiatives.
- Establish unit standards, expectations, and performance objectives.
- Promote teamwork and effective communication across the care team.
- Monitor patient experience, clinical outcomes, quality indicators, and operational performance.
- Assist with operational and capital budgets and monitor unit expenses.
- Maintain financial performance within established budget expectations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Maintain departmental policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
- Monitor the effectiveness of nursing practices and implement improvements as needed.
- Ensure consistent completion of patient rounding and appropriate staff follow-up.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of nursing experience.
- Nursing degree; Bachelor’s degree preferred/required per position requirements.
- Current Maryland RN license or eligibility for Maryland licensure.
- Current BLS certification.
- Experience in an inpatient behavioral health environment strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and performance improvement skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Maryland APRN – Clinical Nurse Specialist license or eligibility.
- ACLS certification.
- PALS certification.
- Current or recent experience as an Assistant Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse, Clinical Coordinator, or similar nursing leader in inpatient behavioral health.
