Registered Nurse (RN) Duties & Responsibilities:
RNs will be providing comprehensive care to patients with acute psychiatric disorders, including mood disorders, psychosis, and substance use disorders in a locked psychiatric unit.
RNs are responsible for delivering direct patient care, including monitoring mental and physical status, administering medications, supporting therapeutic interventions, and maintaining patient and unit safety through continuous observation and adherence to security protocols.
Assess patients' health conditions and develop individualized care plans.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
Monitor patient progress and document assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.
Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies.
Perform wound care, IV therapy, and other clinical procedures within scope of practice.
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, infection control standards, and facility policies.
Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR).
Provide compassionate, patient-centered care while promoting safety and quality outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications
Current, valid, and unrestricted CA license/certification in good standing, as required for the position.
Minimum of one (1) year of recent inpatient Behavioral and Medical/Surgical nursing experience in a Level 1 Trauma Institution in a metropolitan city with a diverse population.
AHA BLS/ACLS/PALS, NIHSS Certification,
MAB or CPI, LA City Fire and Life Safety card (must be LA City),
Completion of the LA County Employee Health Clearance prior to the assignment start date.
Copy of current, completed Primary Source Verification (PSV) from the appropriate licensing board or verification agency, if required.
Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents (e.g., .BLS, N95 fit test, immunization records, TB test, or other client-specific requirements).
