LOCATION OF (1) POSITION(S) TO BE FILLED: DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN'S SERVICES, HAMILTON COUNTY

This is a Behavioral Health Specialist position for the Mental Health Team in the Statewide Services Health and Education division.

This position is currently located in Hamilton County.

This position requires a criminal background check. Therefore, you may be required to provide information about your criminal history in order to be considered for this position.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Master's Degree from an accredited university in one of the following: Social Work, Human Development, Psychology or Counseling. Other master's degrees in the social and/or behavioral sciences that provide a pathway to licensure may be acceptable after review and approval by the Director of Behavioral Health/designee.

Overview

TN Valley has multiple transition homes in the region, and the role of the Behavior Specialist is to support the youth in the transition homes. The Behavior Specialist interacts with the youth to engage them in problem solving, verbal de-escalation, safety planning as well as milieu management.

Responsibilities

Behavior Specialists provide activities such as crafts, board games, card games, sensory activities and other activities that will serve to keep the youth engaged and regulated. Additionally, the Behavior Specialists will collaborate with staff and provide feedback to staff on how to best interact with the youth. The Behavior Specialists may also assist with logistics such as food preparation and ensuring the youth are ready for school.
