Behavioral Health Support Specialist, Extended Psychiatric Unit

The Behavioral Health Specialist provides direct therapeutic support and relational engagement to adults receiving treatment within the EAC unit. This position emphasizes safety, structure, and active participation in the therapeutic milieu, promoting emotional regulation, stabilization, and recovery-oriented care. This position serves as the first step in a structured workforce ladder, offering opportunities to progress into higher level roles learning and demonstrating skills required for future progression

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Ability to demonstrate professional boundaries, calmness under stress, and relational engagement skills.
• Ability to de-escalate crisis situations; Ability to work with culturally-diverse families and communities with the ability to be culturally sensitive, compassionate, and non-judgmental.
• Ability to maintain the milieu with a calm and professional approach, provide redirection, utilize de-escalation techniques along with separation.
• Works well under pressure and consistently demonstrate a pleasant and professional demeanor.
• Ability to conduct group activities with Residents
• Healthcare Provider (CPR) certification and Comprehensive Crisis Management certification within 6 months of start date in department/position
• Position requires a valid PA Drivers License and MVR.
• Experience in Behavioral Health, Residential Care, or Human Services Preferred. Basic understanding of Trauma-informed care
