We are looking for Behavioral Health Technicians in Steubenville, Ohio.

Compensation: $19–$22/hour, based on experience
Position Type: Full-Time

Shifts-

Night Shift- Sunday-Thursday- 2pm-10:30pm

Day Shift- Weekdays including 1 weekend- 7am-3pm

Job Description

Join our dynamic team at The Ohio Recovery Collective! The Ohio Recovery Collective, a proud member of Quadrant Health Group, is seeking compassionate and dependable Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) to join our growing team in Steubenville, Ohio.

The Behavioral Health Technician provides direct support and supervision to individuals receiving behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment. This position plays an important role in maintaining a safe, structured, supportive, and recovery-focused treatment environment.

What You'll Do

The Behavioral Health Technician supports daily program operations by monitoring client safety, providing supervision and support, assisting with program activities, and communicating relevant client observations to clinical, nursing, and other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team.

Client Supervision & Safety

  • Monitor client activities and help maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.
  • Conduct facility rounds and room checks in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
  • Observe client behavior and promptly communicate behavioral, medical, or safety concerns to appropriate clinical or nursing staff.
  • Assist with crisis situations within the scope of the position and follow established emergency and safety protocols.
  • Support client adherence to program rules, schedules, and expectations.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients at all times.

Milieu & Program Support

  • Support the daily structure and therapeutic environment of the program.
  • Assist with monitoring group attendance, appointments, activities, and daily schedules.
  • Encourage client participation in treatment activities, recovery programming, and scheduled services.
  • Provide appropriate encouragement and support to clients throughout the treatment process.
  • Promote a respectful, supportive, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented environment.
  • Assist clinical and nursing staff with program needs as directed and within the scope of the BHT role.

Documentation

  • Document client observations, incidents, and relevant interactions in the Electronic Health Record (EHR/EMR) in accordance with facility policies.
  • Immediately report significant behavioral, medical, safety, or environmental concerns to appropriate staff.
  • Complete shift reports, incident reports, and other required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Maintain accurate and objective documentation consistent with organizational and regulatory requirements.

Client Support

  • Assist clients with activities of daily living and facility routines when appropriate.
  • Provide support during meals, recreational activities, appointments, and other scheduled activities.
  • Assist with client admissions, discharges, and transitions as assigned.
  • Assist with client transportation when required and authorized.
  • Provide compassionate, respectful, and professional support while encouraging client independence and accountability.

Collaboration with the Treatment Team

  • Communicate relevant client observations and concerns to clinical, medical, and nursing staff.
  • Work collaboratively with therapists, counselors, nurses, medical providers, case managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Support implementation of individualized treatment plans as directed by appropriately qualified clinical staff.
  • Participate in staff meetings, shift handoffs, training, and other required facility activities.
  • Maintain effective and professional communication with clients, coworkers, supervisors, and leadership.

Regulatory & Compliance Responsibilities

  • Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
  • Follow applicable Ohio behavioral health and substance use disorder requirements and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Follow all facility policies related to client rights, safety, supervision, incident reporting, emergency procedures, and professional conduct.
  • Maintain appropriate ethical and professional boundaries with clients.
  • Complete all required orientation, compliance training, annual education, and competency requirements.
  • Support facility compliance with applicable accreditation standards, including The Joint Commission and/or CARF, as applicable.

  • Ability to respond appropriately during crisis or emergency situations and follow established protocols.
  • Understanding of professional boundaries, confidentiality, and client rights.
  • Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor in a fast-paced behavioral healthcare environment.
  • Ability to follow established policies, procedures, and treatment team direction.
  • Strong documentation, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn Electronic Health Record (EHR/EMR) systems.
  • Dependable, professional, and committed to providing respectful, person-centered care.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, mental health, recovery services, healthcare, social services, or a related setting preferred.
  • Experience working in a residential or inpatient behavioral health environment preferred.
  • Must meet applicable age requirements for the position and facility.
  • Ability to work assigned shifts, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on program needs.

Required Clearances & Certifications

  • Successful completion of applicable Ohio and federal background screening requirements and other required exclusion or registry checks.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening in accordance with organizational policy and applicable law.
  • Completion of required health screening, including TB screening when applicable.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within the required timeframe.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet organizational driving requirements if client transportation is an essential function of the position.

Work Environment

This position operates within a behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment environment and requires regular interaction with clients experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.

The position requires the ability to remain attentive to client and facility safety, respond appropriately to changing client needs, move throughout the facility, and perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
