About the Role

The Behavioral Health Therapist provides trauma-informed, culturally responsive, developmentally appropriate mental health and substance-use services to youth and young adults served by Covenant House Georgia (CHGA).

 

In this role, you report directly to the Director of Clinical Services, and support youth across CHGA’s residential programs and community locations.

 

The work hours for this role are 11:00am to 7:00pm, enabling coverage and collaboration with both the morning and evening shifts.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group psychotherapy using trauma‑informed modalities

• Conduct strengths‑based, non‑retraumatizing assessments

• Develop youth‑centered treatment plans

• Provide crisis intervention and safety planning

• Complete documentation per CHGA data‑integrity standards

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams

• Advocate for client rights and confidentiality

• Participate in case reviews and panels as needed

• Maintain HIPAA compliance and mandated reporting requirements

• Participate in training, audits, and quality assurance activities

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Understanding of trauma‑informed care

• Strong crisis‑management and de‑escalation skills

• Ability to maintain high‑quality documentation

• Strong communication and collaboration skills

 

Required Qualifications

• Associate-level license

• Degree from a CACREP-accredited program

• Associate clinicians must maintain an external clinical supervisor

• Proof of malpractice insurance

• Out‑of‑state hires must show reciprocity process

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Active LPC/LCSW/LMFT 

• Experience serving youth experiencing homelessness or exploitation

• Experience in community or residential treatment settings

• Bilingual abilities (Spanish preferred)

• Experience with electronic health records

 

Travel Requirements

• Valid driver’s license required for local travel (within 15 miles)

• Work occurs across CHGA residential programs; community visits as needed. CHGA vehicles available for work‑related travel as needed
