Description

The Behavior Therapist provides direct one-on-one Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The Behavior Therapist implements individualized treatment plans, collects accurate data, teaches communication, social, adaptive, and daily living skills, and helps reduce challenging behaviors through evidence-based interventions. Services are provided in the home, clinic, school, and community settings while maintaining professionalism, compassion, and a family-centered approach.


Key Responsibilities


  • Implement individualized ABA treatment plans designed by the supervising BCBA.
  • Provide direct one-on-one behavioral intervention services.
  • Collect accurate session data and complete documentation, including SOAP notes, within required timelines.
  • Teach communication, social, adaptive living, play, academic readiness, and self-help skills.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) using positive reinforcement and evidence-based strategies.
  • Manage challenging behaviors safely and professionally while maintaining client dignity.
  • Participate in caregiver training by modeling strategies and supporting skill generalization.
  • Maintain consistent communication with supervising BCBAs regarding client progress, concerns, and barriers to treatment.
  • Attend required supervision meetings, trainings, and company meetings.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, payer requirements, and company policies.
  • Ensure therapy materials are organized and prepare for each session.
  • Travel to assigned client locations as needed.
Qualifications


  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, Child Development, Behavior Analysis, or a related field preferred.
  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification within company timelines.
  • Experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow treatment plans and receive ongoing clinical feedback.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and proof of automobile insurance.
  • Ability to pass a background check and meet payer requirements.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, kneel, bend, and engage in active play with children. May occasionally lift or assist clients weighing up to 50 pounds.
