The Bell Attendant serves as one of the hotel's most visible ambassadors, creating memorable first and last impressions through personalized service, professional hospitality, and seamless guest assistance.

Working closely with the Front Office team, Bell Attendants ensure guests are comfortably settled into their accommodations, assist with luggage and personal belongings, and provide thoughtful guidance on hotel offerings and amenities. Beyond traditional bell services, this role serves as a curator of authentic New York City experiences, connecting travelers to the culture, neighborhoods, dining, entertainment, and hidden gems that make Manhattan one of the world's most dynamic destinations.

At our NYC property, Bell Attendants are expected to go beyond service delivery by creating meaningful interactions that transform a stay into an experience. By understanding guest preferences and anticipating needs, they provide personalized recommendations and curate micro-local experiences that leave lasting impressions and embody Hyatt's commitment to care and hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet arriving and departing guests with warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality.
  • Open hotel and vehicle doors and assist guests with arrivals and departures.
  • Load, unload, transport, store, and retrieve guest luggage and personal belongings safely and efficiently.
  • Escort guests to their guestrooms upon request and provide a detailed orientation of room features, amenities, and hotel services.
  • Deliver flowers, packages, messages, and guest requests to guestrooms and meeting spaces.
  • Assist guests with room relocations and special accommodations.
  • Curate personalized micro-local experiences by providing tailored recommendations on dining, arts, culture, nightlife, shopping, wellness, entertainment, and neighborhood attractions.
  • Act as a New York City ambassador by sharing authentic local knowledge and helping guests discover unique experiences beyond traditional tourist destinations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of local events, transportation options, cultural happenings, sporting events, and community activities.
  • Provide maps, directions, and transportation guidance as needed.
  • Maintain updated resources and information regarding local transportation services, attractions, and points of interest.
  • Operate radios and communication equipment professionally and efficiently.
  • Support Front Office operations, including answering guest service requests and assisting Guest Services Agents as needed.
  • Show guestrooms and suites upon request, highlighting the property's amenities and unique offerings.
  • Notify Security of accidents, incidents, or safety concerns and complete all required documentation.
  • Anticipate guest and operational needs, demonstrating initiative and proactive problem-solving.
  • Collaborate effectively with all hotel departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Salary Range: $21.25 an hour

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; hospitality, hotel, or related experience preferred.
  • Passion for hospitality and creating exceptional guest experiences.
  • Strong knowledge of New York City neighborhoods, attractions, dining, culture, and entertainment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to engage confidently and professionally with guests, colleagues, and leadership.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to anticipate guest needs.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of guest, employee, and hotel information.
  • Ability to stand and remain active for the entirety of the scheduled shift.
  • Ability to perform heavy physical work, including exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to lift, transport, and store luggage and guest belongings safely and efficiently.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be available to work the 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM shift.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple departments and maintain professional communication standards.
  • Ability to perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
