Pay Range: $19.00 - $20.24 per hour, plus tips
Job Summary: We are seeking a Bellperson to join our team and deliver exceptional service to our guests from arrival to departure. The Bellman assists guests with their luggage, shares information about the hotel and the local area, and operates the hotel van to transport guests to and from nearby attractions, and other destinations as needed during their stay. This role combines warm hospitality with safe, reliable driving.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in hospitality or customer service preferred; prior professional driving experience a plus.
• Valid California driver’s license.
• Acceptable driving record, as verified through a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review conducted after a conditional offer of employment, and eligibility under the hotel’s auto insurance policy.
• Continued employment requires maintaining a valid license and an acceptable driving record; the hotel may review driving records periodically, including through the California DMV Employer Pull Notice (EPN) Program.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities:
Guest Services
• Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner upon arrival and departure.
• Assist guests with luggage, packages, and deliveries to and from guest rooms.
• Store and retrieve luggage accurately using the hotel’s tagging and tracking system.
• Provide information about hotel services, amenities, and local attractions.
• Answer guest inquiries and assist with requests, escalating issues to the appropriate department when needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the lobby, entrance, and bell stand area.
Guest Transportation
• Operate the hotel van to transport guests to and from attractions, and other approved destinations according to the shuttle schedule and on-demand requests.
• Assist guests with boarding, exiting, and loading or unloading luggage, providing extra help to guests.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any mechanical, safety, or cleanliness issues immediately.
• Keep the van clean, fueled, and presentable at all times.
• Maintain accurate trip logs, mileage records, and passenger counts as required.
• Report any accident, incident, or traffic citation involving the hotel vehicle to management immediately.
• Follow transportation rules and designated pickup and drop-off procedures.
Safety and Security
• Adhere to all safety and security procedures to ensure the well-being of guests and colleagues.
• Follow the hotel’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), including safe lifting practices.
• Protect guest privacy and property at all times.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull luggage and items weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and to sit for extended periods while driving.
• Ability to bend, reach, climb into and out of the vehicle, and load luggage into the van.
• Work is performed indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions, and in traffic.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
- Previous experience in a similar role is preferred
- Knowledge of local attractions and points of interest
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
