Bench Mechanic Work with General Supervision
Plans, lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs sheet metal parts, equipment, and products by performing the following duties.

Job Summary
Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine the sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products. Performs all deburring operations. Removes burrs and sharp edges by use of various hand tools and materials, such as files and edge breakers. Smoothes edges and removes build-ups with air or electric equipment using abrasive disks and sleeves. Operates burring equipment using countersink grinding wheels, burring rolls, bench grinders, rotary files, drill presses, and jitterbug. Controls thickness by using ultrasonic gages and micrometers, calipers, and scales to work to close tolerances of -.002.
Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area. Performs other duties as assigned, including leading projects and participation in project committees.
