OPTI STAFFING GROUP IS HIRINGOpening: Benefits Accountant ILocation: Anchorage, AKPay: $27-32 DOE + Comprehensive Benefits PackagePosition Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Benefits Accountant I to join a growing finance team in Anchorage. This position plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy of employee benefit accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, excellent Excel skills, and the ability to manage large volumes of financial data with precision.Key Responsibilities Reconcile employee benefit deductions from payroll to Accounts Payable vendor payments.Reconcile benefit-related General Ledger accounts and ensure account balances are accurate and properly supported.Research, investigate, and resolve discrepancies involving payroll deductions, benefit elections, and vendor invoices.Collaborate with Human Resources and Payroll teams to ensure accurate employee benefit records and reporting.Assist with annual financial statement audits and 401(k) audits by preparing schedules, supporting documentation, and process narratives.Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to accounting and reconciliation processes.Maintain accurate financial records while meeting deadlines and compliance requirements.Support special projects and perform additional accounting duties as assigned.Qualifications Required Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience.Strong understanding of accounting principles and General Ledger reconciliations.Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, data manipulation, and spreadsheet management.Ability to process and analyze large volumes of financial data with a high degree of accuracy.Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.Ability to successfully pass a drug screen, background check, reference check, and credit check.Preferred Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.Experience with employee benefits accounting, payroll deductions, or benefits administration.Experience using Deltek Costpoint or similar accounting software.Knowledge & Skills Knowledge of accounting procedures, financial records, and reconciliation practices.Ability to identify discrepancies and recommend solutions.Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.Ability to read and understand contracts, agreements, policies, and procedures.Professional and effective communication skills when working with employees, vendors, and internal stakeholders.Work Environment This position operates in a professional office environment and requires strong time management and organizational skills.
